The key to success is to have clearly defined goals.

Knowing exactly what you are working towards and how you are going to get there will reduce your chances of giving up on the goal. It is also important to figure out what success means to you. This blog is going to show you how to best structure your goals and visions in order for you to succeed.

Here at ActionCOACH, we are currently setting our goals for 2022. These goals are both work-related and personal, and setting these is a crucial first step in making them a reality.

GOAL SETTING

When setting goals, it’s important to have a clear end point in which you can celebrate, knowing you’ve been successful in achieving your goals. From there, you can evaluate your next steps. Whether that means continuing on the same path and achieving more in that area, or placing your energy and focus into something new, you have a sense of accomplishment and know where to start form and where you’re going.

ACTIONCOACH EXAMPLES

Some goals our team have for the New Year is spending less time working in the evenings and weekends, as well as making healthier choices when it comes to food and fitness. Defining these in a way that have a clear end point looks a bit like this:

“By the end of March, 2022 I will be working a maximum of 2 hours outside of working hours so I can spend more time with my family.”

“During the work week, I will substitute any confectionary or crisps with a piece of fruit or some yoghurt. I will also take a 20 minute walk around the block on my lunch break.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF A ‘CAN DO’ MINDSET

By stating “I will” rather than “I want” creates a “can do” mindset, helping you turn your dreams turn into a reality. Creating a timeline for your goals encourages drive, and including specifics can help you measure your success along the way.

Writing down your goals, sharing them with your loved ones or co-workers, and revisiting them daily all help to increase your chance of succeeding. We challenge you to take some time between now and midnight December 31 to write down three clearly defined goals you have for 2022.
